planting tulips

planting tulips bulbs in plastic pots

As you may know by now i have a love for plants and colourful flowers and from time to time i buy some from the local market....this time i decided to go a bit further....plant and grow my own tulips!!
A dear friend of mine bought a lot of tulip bulbs - if i remember correct about 12 of each colour!- for her garden and i took 2 for my balcony. I don't have any luck in growing plants...i seem to end their lives sooner than expected...so i didn't want to take more....2 is just enough to see if i can make it.
If everything goes as it should in a few months i will have 2 beautiful red-bright pink tulips!!!

crochet bags !!

Today i want to share with you 2 amazing crochet bags that my beloved cousin RITSA made. She lives in Crete and runs her own English Language School !!!! She's a very active and crafty person that loves animals and enjoys life to the fullest !!!! She also loves to spend time diving, swimming and cruising with Nemo.

A few days ago she crocheted these beautiful bags and sent me the pictures. I fell in love with them, especially the blue one, and just had to show them to you!

She also sent me a link to the pattern of the blue bag which you can find  here !
so grab your crochet hooks and start creating!!! :))
Thanks Ritsa!!!

sewing a bag

ikea fabric hand sewed bag

All this time i was looking at sewing projects, especially bags and i wanted to make my own although i don't have a sewing machine. I still had the fabric from IKEA (and lots of spare time) so i decided to give it a try.

Once again without a pattern i folded the fabric in the middle and started sewing the two sides together. I had it turned inside out of course, and when i finished i just sewed the two bottom corners in a triangle shape to make the bag look better. I just looked at it and sewed wherever i thought i should. I made the two handles and attached them to the body, sewed two cute yellow buttons on the front of it and ta dah!!!! My first ever bag is ready!!!! The fabric was very thick and it made the whole thing very difficult and tiring for my poor fingers but i like the final result so much that i no longer care about it ! I also made a little heart and a puff stitch flower to decorate it :)

As you see i didn't make a lining, i just didn't have the courage for more hand sewing...plus i was way to bored to go out and look for fabric (38C is too hot for me to run around...although i did go for jogging in the afternoon :p). I don't think it really matters...i will use it to put in groceries, mainly vegetables from the market...or should i carry it all the time??

good news...bad news..

yorkshire terrier yorkie dog sleepy

Call me a lazy dog but i can assure you that im not!!! well not all of the time at least....
the past few days i just couldn't put myself to write about anything...many things happened...good and bad...and  my mood swings were crazy!!!!!
at times i wished i could just disappear...go somewhere far far away and never return....i really need a break from everything but there's no chance of that happening....

On the bright side...my plants are growing and i just love them!the first gardenia flower for this summer just popped open and i was screaming happily around the house...mrB and the little ones looking at me with a huge question mark over their heads.. : p

other news is that we went to check out another apartment cause we are not happy with ours...its very old and the balcony is too small and with no view. the one we visited was pretty old too but it was on the top floor of an apartment building and it had the whole terrace as a balcony...it would be perfect for the little ones to run around...and we could have as many plants as we wanted and a barbecue and a plastic pool to play around...everything we could imagine!!!the rent is not too much but we were disappointed with the arrangement of the rooms...im thinking of going to see it again but mrB says we should forget about it and try for another one...

I also have some great great news to share...but you'll just have to wait for my next post!!!!I'll give a hint...if you like dogs you're gonna love it!!!!!
so ill see you tomorrow...till then, have a great time!!!!

may rose crochet flower

As promised today im gonna give you the patterns for the crochet flowers that i used to make my wreath.
I used two different type of flowers.
The rose flowers for starters were made in two different sizes using two different crochet hooks...(you can use whatever size you want), following Lucys pattern from Attic 24...she has a great tutorial with pictures and all and you can learn how to makes the leaves too!!!

a beautiful flower wreath !!!

Last week after my daily cruise around the blog world i decided to test my crochet skills and make a flower wreath !!! Yarn and needles is all i used and it turned out just fine!!! I did not use wire or anything of that sort to fill in the wreath and it stays in place pretty good.

yarn and crochet flowers

As you can see the flowers are not all the same..i used three different patterns, all of them very easy and quick and ill be sharing them with you in a day or two, after i remember where i got them from...

I first did the body of the wreath and then crocheted as many different colour flowers and leaves as i could...or as i thought were enough to be exact!!! The only tricky thing was sewing them on the body afterwards...i wasn't really difficult but it seemed boring and took me while to get it started....but once i got my sewing needle on there was no stop to it!!! I was sewing and sewing and then....ta daaaaaah!!!!! MY WREATH WAS FINISHED AND READY TO USE!!!!

And then it hit me!!! We live in an apartment building with many people coming and going...people we do and don't know....i just couldn't bare the idea of someone stealing my beloved wreath...i already loved it too much to risk such a thing!!So instead i decorated my kitchen wall with it and to be honest i think it looks perfect!!!
